The creative meeting

Our selection principles

Faligi Editore periodically organizes some Creative Meetings to meet new translators.

This workshop is directed to young people who have carried out studies of Translation and Interpreting or of Foreign Languages and Literatures, and that are looking for a chance to enter the work world. Moreover, the Creative Meeting is also directed to those persons that usually work with a foreign language (teachers, native speakers, workers in the commercial and legal field) that have not had the opportunity to specialize in the literary translations, above all because of a lack of working opportunities in the publishing circle, and that have been trying since long to enter the publishing world but have always found the doors closed.

The "Creative Meetings": The literary translator.
This workshop does not teach to translate to those professionals that daily deal with commercial, legal, medical and web site translations and that want to compete with their literary translation skills. During the meeting some useful information is furnished, such as operational and legislative elements and notions about the Authors’ Right and the agreements, as well as the illustration of the Italian and European book industry survey. A CD with the translation test is given to all participants, the test will be done at home within a month after the meeting.

Faligi Editore will verify the translation and appraise its quality. To the participants that will send a quality translation test, Faligi Editore will offer a edition contract for the translation of the books on the catalogue; the translator’s personal data will be inserted on the portal in the translators’ category (subject to written contract).

Faligi Editore publishes the works of its authors contemporarily in many languages. This editorial choice creates a privileged relationship with the translators, that become essential and indispensable figures in a publishing house. This portal is born from our intent to furnish them new work chances and new professional outlets.

The Creative Meetings are born to select qualified and highly specialized personnel, and this Portal of the Translators is a free benefit that we reserve to our collaborators.

With this introduction, we underline that the portal is an additional benefit, not an aim. We want to make clear that the participation to the Creative Meeting, and the following delivery of the translation test, does not assure the insertion on the portal, since it is our intention to preserve the professional level of the translators that we propose.
